Acupuncture is one branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that has been used for millennia to treat various illnesses, injuries, and serve as a preventative by promoting overall health and well-being. There are more than 2,000 acupoints on the human body, which are connected to the 20 meridians (pathways) conducting qi/chi (energy) between the various organ systems. Each acupoint has a different effect on the qi/chi that passes through it. The insertion of very fine, sterile, single-use needles into the body at specific acupoints restores and balances the body's qi/chi (energy) and promotes self healing.
Electro-acupuncture is occasionally used in conjunction with other TCM methods for treatment of certain conditions. As with traditional acupuncture, needles are inserted at specific acupoints on the body. The needles are then attached by small clips to a device that generates electrical pulses. Two needles are connected a time allowing the impulses to pass from one acupoint to the other. Several pairs of needles can be stimulated simultaneously as needed. Electro-acupuncture is especially useful in treating conditions where there is an accumulation of qi, such as in chronic pain conditions.
Experienced Massage Therapists are available to provide a wide variety of massages, each can be individualized to assure you receive the maximum benefit and achieve your goals. Whether you're seeking treatment for a chronic condition, muscle strain or damage, or relief from the unique pain of arthritis, fibromyalgia or the everyday stressors of life in the 21st century, our massage therapists will help you select the massage therapy that will provide you the maximum benefit. Massage services include:
Classic/Swedish Massage
The most common and popular type of massage therapy, Swedish massage utilizes five styles of long gliding strokes to relieve muscle tension and improve circulation relaxing the body, mind and spirit.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue massage uses slow, deliberate techniques to penetrate the deeper layers of the muscles and connective tissues to increase flexibility, release chronic muscle tension and promote healing of chronic paid due to injury.
Hot Stone Massage
The heat from water-warmed, smooth basalt stones literally melt away the accumulation of day-to-day stresses and tension promoting deeper muscle relaxation, pain and stress relief and increased blood flow.
Prenatal Massage
A prenatal massage utilizes various massage modalities and techniques to relieve the unique muscle tensions and skeletal stresses of pregnancy, improve lymphatic and blood circulation relieving cramps, headaches and edema (swelling). Specially designed tables and/or pillow placement are used to ensure the expectant mother's comfort during the therapy session.
Reflexology
Reflexology utilizes stimulation of specific pressure points in the feet, hands or ears, corresponding to specific body organs and systems to enhance internal health and restore balance to the whole body. Reflexology can be incorporated into other modalities of massage to address specific injuries and/or illnesses.
Sports Massage
A combination of massage modalities and techniques designed to relieve the stresses of a particular sport by concentrating on the muscle groups and joints most subjected to repetitive and aggressive use. Studies have shown that specially designed sports massages can promote flexibility, reduce fatigue, improve endurance, prevent injuries and enhance performance.
Thai Yoga Massage
One of the most invigorating types of massage, Thai massage utilizes your entire body as the therapist applies therapeutic pressure and manipulates you into a series of yoga-like stretches to loosen your joints.
Trigger Point Therapy
Like Deep Tissue Massage, Trigger Point Therapy targets specific "problem areas," utilizing pressure of trigger points (localized areas in which the muscle and connective tissue are highly sensitive when compressed) to relieve tension and pain in an entire (perhaps not even nearby) area. The technique can relieve pain and promote healing of damaged tissues, and restore motion to joints.
